Hello and welcome to my website. I am Carmen, an artist based on the west coast of Scotland, creating pet and animal portraits and handcrafts. I work with coloured pencils, charcoal, wool felting and other mediums to bring your beloved furry friends to life.

About me

Pet portraits

My main work is drawing pet portraits with coloured pencils. Coloured pencil drawing is a very slow process coming with a very realistic style. I enjoy this kind of slow drawing as it is very therapeutic and relaxing, bringing me inner peace and pleasure. I also like to explore new mediums for different styles, and recently started charcoal drawing, which I enjoy, as it creates very smooth touching of animal fur.

Wool felt animals

I received a raccoon felting kit as a Christmas present in 2019, which I finally decided to try during the COVID 2020 lockdown. I felt very natural with the needles and wool, and enjoyed it very much. When I posted my felt animals on social media, I had many inquiries from friends asking me to make felt figures of their pets. This is different to the realistic style of my drawing, and for my felt animals I prefer a more imaginative and cartoon-like approach.
